According to the latest report from the Sun-Sentinel (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-heat18sep18,0,918996.story?coll=sfla-sports-heat), the newest disgruntled star, Vince Carter, is not on his way to Miami. At least, not for the time being.
And why should he be? We already have enough perimeter players on this team. We have a strong enough 'tweener' in Dwayne Wade whose stock has been rising since the Heat drafted him. Plus, who knows which Vince Carter the Heat would be getting. The Carter who was injured and watched from the bench as his team made the playoffs without him? That is not exactly a glowing recommendation.
Sure, Carter with Shaq would be a ridiculous combo. But for the Heat's needs, it would be overkill and you risk poisoning the water supply. Think about the Lakers and the ego battle waged there. I am not saying Carter would be Kobe, but there would be a definite question about who gets the ball in the 4th quarter. With Wade, his youth and his inexperience, both make him best suited to defer to Shaq without bruising his own ego. Wade's tempermant is such that he would make a better teammate at this point as well. Carter just seems to be trying to cash in on the latest trend - disgruntled superstar clamors for a ticket out instead of honoring the contract he signed and trying to make that team win. Why would we want that here?
